I listen to podcasts when I ride my exercise bicycle. The focus of a recent one I listened to was Jeff Papows, author of Glitch: The Hidden Impact of Faulty Software (ISBN-13: 978-0-1321606-3-6). Like you, I live in a world of faulty software. The podcast's horror stories were familiar, comfortable even. After all, a consultant in rural Kentucky, as I am, survives because most companies have search systems that cannot find, content management systems that generate web pages that won't render, and automated systems that relentlessly tag documents incorrectly. But Papows made a comment that struck me as particularly insightful. He said: "Everyone wants governance but no one wants to be governed."
